Brewster Writers: A New Workshop at Brewster Ladies’ Library

Summer 2017, Workshop Begins Wednesday June 14, 2017, 7-9:30 pm

Brewster Writers, a new writing group co-sponsored by the Brewster Cultural Council and the Brewster Ladies’ Library, will begin to meet every other week in the library auditorium on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 pm, beginning June 15, 2016. The spark for Brewster Writers ignited at last fall’s annual Brewster Literary Evening, a forum where many published and aspiring local authors come together to read and share their writing. One participating author urged the co-sponsors to form an ongoing writers’ workshop in Brewster.

Brewster Writers welcomes writers in all genres who wish to share their work in a supportive setting. Members will share copies of 2-3 pages of their own writing in order to receive responses and comments from other writers. Writers on all levels are encouraged to join. Members can attend one or more sessions as they are able. The size of the group may vary each time. The initial facilitator will be Sharon Leder, a Cultural Council member who read chapters of her fictional memoir about her heroin addicted father at the Literary Evenings. The book will be published in May 2017 by KiCam Projects. As the group develops, facilitators may rotate. The goal is to encourage the writing community in Brewster and its surroundings. This workshop is free of charge!

We meet weekly on a lovely patio surrounded by a garden of palm trees and bougainvillea. We share our writing projects and offer supportive commentary. We are open to new members. We write in English, though several members are bi-and tri-lingual, including Spanish and French. Our location is in Centro, an easy walk from the zocalo, the park at the center of the city.
